Principle of Measurement

An FBG consists of a periodic modulation of the refractive index along the fiber core, which reflects a specific wavelength of light known as the Bragg wavelength while transmitting other wavelengths . When the fiber is subjected to strain or temperature changes, the spacing between the grating planes and the refractive index of the fiber change, causing a shift in the reflected wavelength . This shift is directly proportional to the applied physical perturbation.

Measurement Techniques
