Calibration Standards and Reference

  • Use special calibration options (like C01 or C85 from Keysight) if available, which provide metrology-grade accuracy and minimize measurement uncertainty .
  • Ensure the same connector type is used during calibration as in field measurements to avoid errors caused by back-reflections .

Frequency and Verification

  • Annual calibration is standard for most optical power meters, but heavy use, extreme conditions, or drops may require more frequent checks .
  • Between calibrations, verify performance by cross-checking against a known-good meter or performing internal zeroing .
